Natalie’s first love has always been dance and from a young age always had a gift for the medium. Natalie began her training in ballet and branched out into contemporary and other styles including African, hip hop and Jazz.
She obtained her teaching degree in dance and started dancing professionally at the age of 15 whilst still at school. Natalie was the principal dancer for Performing Arts Workshop in the early-mid 80’s and later of Free Flight Dance Company. She is also a founder member of Free Flight Dance Company and Associate Director with Adele Blank.
in 2007 Natalie relocated and is now based in capetown. 2008 she started Freelancing as Choreographer, Director, teacher and rehearsal director. styling all the costumes and shows.
From 2002 – 2007 she worked with the Moyo restaurant group developing their entertainment programmes. During this time she got to know many African musical styles, their producers and the ins-and-outs of music production resulting in four compilations CDs being produced for the group.
She has choreographed various television commercials over the years. Some well known ones being: Schweppes Novida and Game with Ola Films director Amy Allais, Daddy Cool and All the Single Ladies for Vodacom, Go Compare in the UK, Halifax with Michael Rooney (Kylie Minogues’ choreographer) and a series of Jet commercials.
Her experience in corporate shows and launches is also vast and some stand out ones she’s produced are: South African Fashion week 2014 and 2015, alongside Lucilla Booysens. Mac Gold Fever and numerous Vodacom launches, hair and fashion shows with Sanlam, Jan Malan and the South African Department of Trade and Industry, plus a multitude of New Year’s Eve Parties.
Natalie has also worked on some big scale international events, most notably the 2010 Soccer World Cup opening and closing ceremonies where she worked with Shakira’s dancers and Freshlyground as well as choreographing the elephants for the latter ceremony where she worked with puppeteer Roger Titley. Her understanding of movement and ability to teach it has seen her partnership with Titley (where she teaches dancers to maneuver his larger than life puppets) become successful as they’ve travelled to various parts of the world to showcase the puppets, these include: the World Economic Forum in Davos (2010), the independence day festivities in Turkmenistan (2011) and more recently the wedding for Lateefah Bint Maktoum, the sheik of Dubai’s Daughter.
Today Natalie has honed her love of dance, music and show production as a choreographer, entertainment director and events planner. She continues to work regularly with big name artists on their live performances for large-scale stadium shows and intimate events, such as Freshlyground, Lindiwe Suttle and Toya Delazy.
